The artist Hans E. Madsen has developed the art piece "The Island" for the business school "Erhvervsakademiet Lillebælt" in DK-5000 Odense. "The Island" consist of 3 large umbrella like structures each with a diameter of 7800 mm. Each "Umbrella" consists of 16-18 self-bearing shaped glasses in size 2550x1435mm. In total 51 glasses. Glasses are manufactored with 14 different Vanceva-colors, each with up to 3 Vanceva interlayers, and have been mounted as single glasses but also with over-lapping glasses in order to create different colors. Hans E. Madsen has considered the transparent colors that is experienced when looking through the glasses into the sky, as well as the colors on the ground from light passing through the glasses in the umbrella as sunlight changes during the day.
