An art installation designed by world-reknowned artist Spencer Finch, completed and on display at the Seattle Art Museum. Located at the Olympic Sculpture Park, this installation celebrates the park’s 10th anniversary with a piece that relates to the site and landscape. To create the piece, Spencer Finch drew inspiration from dozens of images of sunsets taken from the site, overlooking Puget Sound. From this, he selected the most representative colors and re-envisioned them on glass. Using Vanceva colored interlayers we were able to recreate some of the spectacular colors found as the sun sinks down over the horizon. Each piece was suspended over a casual seating area, and as such the edges were exposed. To ensure a completely finished look, the edges of each lite were polished prior to laminating. As the sunlight filters through the dancing panes a striking pattern of color is reflected on the floor below.
