Vanceva™ connects bank’s interior to vibrant historic city

When colors have to be perfect, the designers at Glas Trösch AG Swisslamex turned to the Vanceva Color System to create a color-swept renovation for the Raiffeisenbank Schaffhausen. The bank is located in the historic center of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and with its all-glass façade, passersby are treated to a brilliant sweep of color, light, and reflections from the bank’s interior. With a nod to the city’s tradition of painted façades and stained glass, these colorful murals were digitally transformed into a pattern of rhomboid glass shingles, an added reference to the company’s original honeycomb logo.

Ablaze in deep red, orange, yellow, and clear, these beautiful overlapping rhomboid glass shingles are hung along the entire length of the bank’s interior wall, as well as opposing interior walls in the three meeting rooms. The glass shingles are made of two 4-mm laminated Vanceva® glass panes layered with a combination of up to four colored films. The shingles are mounted on white laminated metal sheeting with custom-made wire brackets and backlit with LED lighting.

The bright, warm mix of colorful glass stands out against the light, neutral tones of the floor, ceiling, walls, and furnishings. The overall design of the Raiffeisenbank conveys the impression of transparency while providing the necessary discretion for personal banking consultations.

“A very brave and stimulating project,” commented Andrew Moor, juror. “It is aesthetically pleasing and at the same time very striking. It has form and geometry and rhythm. It is clearly a brilliant piece of engineering and design.”
